Bringing sanctuary to our community.
“Everyone deserves to live in a place designed for them.“
As the Chair of the Board of Directors of the STARability Foundation, Lisa Kahn has committed to helping shine light on abilities, not disabilities. STARability provides programming and resources for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Why the STARability Foundation
“My daughter gave me a gift on the day she was born. It took me sixteen years to open it. But once I did open it, my life changed profoundly. Chloe came into this world with a bundle of challenges — everything from ADHD to learning difficulties. A whirling dervish of surprisingly destructive energy who refused to wear clothes and keep on her diaper! My sweet girl needed constant supervision just to keep her out of harm’s way and to protect the people and environments around her.
And it was through creating and spending time in my sanctuary that I came to realize this additional truth: my daughter’s path is one that only she can travel.
This is why today, I am humbled to be the Chair of the Board of this very special organization that helps kids like Chloe and so many others find their sanctuary, their place of purpose. It is this commitment to wellbeing for all that inspires me everyday.”

Our work with the SWFL Music Education Center (SWFLMEC)
Finding Sanctuary by Lisa Kahn Designs was approached by the SWFL Music Education Center to assist with the redesign of their new space because of our commitment to health, wellness and sanctuary. Providing sanctuary spaces to those communities who are not regularly offered such places is important to us.
The SWFL Music Education Center particularly serves those youth who are neurodivergent and/or on the autism spectrum. Most spaces are not designed with these types of people in mind, but at the SWFL Music Education Center we were given the chance to design with specific attention to the needs of this community.
As a company, we are so excited to create spaces like this, which provide sanctuary for those people who do not often get to experience such a thing in our everyday environments.

Our work with The Shelter for Abused Women and Children
The Shelter for Abused Women & Children operates a 24-hour Crisis Line, two 60-bed emergency shelters, nine transitional living cottages, and 30 programs and services in Collier County, FL to protect women and children who are victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. We know that one of the key pillars of finding sanctuary is feeling secure and out of harm’s way. That’s why we support The Shelter with pro-bono renovations to help these women and children find safety, independence, and sanctuary.

Our Work With Youth Haven
Youth Haven is Southwest Florida’s only emergency and residential shelter for boys and girls ages 10-19 who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Their Transitional Living Cottages provide comprehensive 24-hour care including a safe and caring environment, a place to sleep, access to intensive case management, educational support, nutritious meals, and medical and mental health services for homeless unaccompanied youth ages 16 to 19. At Finding Sanctuary, we are volunteering our design services pro-bono to renovate Youth Haven’s cottages, so that these children can continue their journey back to trust, confidence and joy as a family, in a space they love and feel comfortable in.
